I\u2019ve writ\u00adten else\u00adwhere about this aston\u00adish\u00ading musi\u00adcian [<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.philpaine.com\/?p=432\">Think\u00ading of Tim\u00adbuk\u00adtu<\/a><\/span>; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.philpaine.com\/?p=659\">Ali Far\u00adka Tour\u00e9, Toumani Dia\u00adbat\u00e9 In Per\u00adfect Sync<\/a><\/span>;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.philpaine.com\/?p=936\"> Ali Far\u00adka Tour\u00e9 and Ry Cood\u00ader Talk\u00ading Tim\u00adbuk\u00adtu<\/a><\/span>]. This album is a trib\u00adute to his beloved Niger Riv\u00ader roots, with song lyrics jump\u00ading casu\u00adal\u00adly between Bam\u00adbara, Temazhek and French. Tracks like \u201cCinquante Six\u201d and \u201cYen\u00adna\u201d demon\u00adstrate his absolute mas\u00adtery of the gui\u00adtar, with the per\u00adfect tim\u00ading that made him a leg\u00adend. My favourite track is the song \u201cDofana\u201d, in which he wist\u00adful\u00adly evokes a small vil\u00adlage, \u201c<em>a par\u00adadise on Earth, only twen\u00adty kilo\u00adme\u00adtres from here\u201d, threat\u00adened only by the \u201cidio\u00adcy of politi\u00adcians<\/em>\u201d.&nbsp;Tour\u00e9, on becom\u00ading a suc\u00adcess\u00adful record\u00ading artist, eschewed the migra\u00adtion to Paris or Lon\u00addon, and instead became the may\u00ador of just such a vil\u00adlage.
