The pro\u00adduc\u00adtion val\u00adues are mod\u00adest, but do their job. What makes it all work is the act\u00ading skill of Derek Jaco\u00adbi, who becomes the char\u00adac\u00adter so thor\u00adough\u00adly that that when I read one of the nov\u00adels I could\u00adn\u2019t help but hear his voice and see his face. He has cre\u00adat\u00aded one of the most lik\u00adable char\u00adac\u00adters on tele\u00advi\u00adsion. <em>Monk\u2019s Hood<\/em> has all the ele\u00adments that Ellis Peters likes to play with: the inter\u00adplay of local and king\u00addom pol\u00adi\u00adtics, the ambi\u00adgu\u00adi\u00adty of the Church being both inside and out\u00adside the soci\u00adety, the no-man\u2019s-land between the Welsh and Eng\u00adlish, and, of course, flow\u00aders and herbs.&nbsp;The monk\u2019s hood, by the way is a par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly pret\u00adty flower.<br>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 1994\u20131996 tele\u00advi\u00adsion movies based on Ellis Peters\u2019 medieval mur\u00adder mys\u00adter\u00adies are very well done.
