He is the only record\u00ading artist to have five albums in the Top 12 all at once. He is the only artist to have a song reach #1 twice, with the dread\u00aded \u201cTwist\u201d. I am lis\u00adten\u00ading to that sad lit\u00adtle item on the orig\u00adi\u00adnal Park\u00adway album, <em>Your Twist Par\u00adty<\/em>, in its 1961 Cana\u00addi\u00adan press\u00ading \u2014 a nice lit\u00adtle rar\u00adi\u00adty in my vinyl col\u00adlec\u00adtion. \u201cThe Twist\u201d <span id=\"more-221\"><\/span>was noth\u00ading but a lit\u00adtle dit\u00adty that trig\u00adgered a brief dance craze, but it brand\u00aded Check\u00ader as the musi\u00adcal equiv\u00ada\u00adlent of hoola hoops, and he was nev\u00ader per\u00admit\u00adted to sing much of any\u00adthing else again, and nev\u00ader tak\u00aden seri\u00adously. This is the sad\u00addest aspect of show busi\u00adness. In some ways, utter fail\u00adure offers some dig\u00adnity. To be briefly wor\u00adshiped for some lame, triv\u00adial accom\u00adplish\u00adment, then cast aside and mulched back into the earth must be utter\u00adly humil\u00adi\u00adat\u00ading.
