With a bud\u00adget of one mil\u00adlion dol\u00adlars, it grossed over 80 mil\u00adlion play\u00ading in 230 <span class=\"caps\">IMAX<\/span> the\u00adatres. Low\u2019s Mon\u00adtre\u00adal-based pro\u00adduc\u00adtion com\u00adpa\u00adny has pro\u00adduced most of the top <span class=\"caps\">IMAX<\/span> for\u00admat films. His much more recent film, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif;\"><em>Vol\u00adca\u00adnoes of the Deep Sea, <\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif;\">was not run in many U.S. the\u00adatres because it con\u00adtains ref\u00ader\u00adences to Evo\u00adlu\u00adtion (yes, rub your eyes and gasp, but that is the lev\u00adel of imbe\u00adcil\u00adi\u00adty that things have sunk to, there). Now, noth\u00ading could be more quin\u00adtes\u00adsen\u00adtial\u00adly Cana\u00addi\u00adan than a doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtary about Our Friend the Beaver <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif;\">\u2015<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif;\"> we all had to endure them repeat\u00aded\u00adly in grade school. Beaver doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtaries are prob\u00ada\u00adbly the equiv\u00ada\u00adlent for Cana\u00adda of the West\u00adern for Hol\u00adly\u00adwood, and the samu\u00adrai epic for Japan. But noth\u00ading pre\u00adpared me for this. The film is bril\u00adliant. It is pow\u00ader\u00adful, emo\u00adtion\u00adal, mov\u00ading. It is inspir\u00ading. It is beau\u00adti\u00adful. The cin\u00ade\u00admatog\u00adra\u00adphy is bril\u00adliant. Some of the shots, if they had been devised by Kubrick or Felli\u00adni, would be stud\u00adied in film schools. The com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adtion, colour, and edit\u00ading are superb. And the act\u00ading, by beavers who are appar\u00adent\u00adly pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adals trained at Strat\u00adford, is top-notch. The love scene, with young amorous beavers danc\u00ading in the moon\u00adlight, is among the most roman\u00adtic ever filmed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s a doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtary about beavers.<\/p>\n<p>Hon\u00adest.
