It is star\u00adtling to see John Giel\u00adgud as a hand\u00adsome young roman\u00adtic lead, and Peter Lorre pro\u00advides an eccen\u00adtric per\u00adfor\u00admance as a sort of gener\u00adic com\u00adi\u00adcal \u201cfor\u00adeign\u00ader\u201d.&nbsp;<em> Sab\u00ado\u00adtage<\/em> pro\u00advides a <em>fris\u00adson<\/em> to today\u2019s view\u00ader. The plot involves a ter\u00adror\u00adist plant\u00adi\u00adng a bomb on a Lon\u00addon bus.&nbsp;Hitch\u00adcock pulls no punch\u00ades:&nbsp;he builds up a lik\u00adable child char\u00adac\u00adter, then bru\u00adtal\u00adly blows him up, halfway through the film.&nbsp;It would have been impos\u00adsi\u00adble to do this in an Amer\u00adi\u00adcan film until decades lat\u00ader.&nbsp;But audi\u00adences did not like it, and Hitch\u00adcock lat\u00ader con\u00adsid\u00adered it a lapse of judge\u00adment.
