It was the first fea\u00adture film of Cana\u00addi\u00adan direc\u00adtor Vadim Perel\u00adman, who had made a rep\u00adu\u00adta\u00adtion with music videos and com\u00admer\u00adcials. Appar\u00adent\u00adly, nov\u00adel\u00adist and direc\u00adtor worked togeth\u00ader inti\u00admate\u00adly. <\/span><\/span>The cast, Jen\u00adnifer Con\u00adnel\u00adly, Ben Kings\u00adley, Shohreh Agh\u00addashloo, Ron Eldard, Frances Fish\u00ader, Kim Dick\u00adens, and Jonathan Ahd\u00adout, find every sub\u00adtle\u00adty pos\u00adsi\u00adble in the char\u00adac\u00adters. This was pos\u00adsi\u00adble because the char\u00adac\u00adters are well con\u00adceived, mul\u00adti-dimen\u00adsion\u00adal, and <\/span>real<\/em><\/span>. The sto\u00adry is pure Shake\u00adspeare. Two peo\u00adple have equal\u00adly just claims to own\u00ading a house. Noth\u00ading spe\u00adcial, just an ordi\u00adnary lit\u00adtle house with a view of the sea. One is an Iran\u00adian immi\u00adgrant, played to per\u00adfec\u00adtion by Ben Kings\u00adley, who des\u00adper\u00adate\u00adly needs the house to hold his fam\u00adi\u00adly togeth\u00ader and retain his much injured pride. The oth\u00ader is a lone\u00adly woman who has both iso\u00adlat\u00aded her\u00adself and been iso\u00adlat\u00aded, and in the course of the strug\u00adgle earned the love of a psy\u00adcho\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly frag\u00adile cop.
