This one is much more com\u00adpli\u00adcated, jug\u00adgling sev\u00aderal char\u00adac\u00adters and sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtions. The plot involves a sud\u00adden alter\u00adation in the fab\u00adric of real\u00adity, expe\u00adri\u00adenced by the whole earth, a char\u00adac\u00adter try\u00ading to pin down the nature of psy\u00adchic abil\u00adi\u00adties, and char\u00adac\u00adters flash\u00ading on events in the past. Among those events is the assas\u00adsi\u00adna\u00adtion of <span class=\"caps\">SS<\/span>\u2013Ober\u00adgrup\u00adpen\u00adf\u00fchrer Rein\u00adhard Hey\u00addrich, who was per\u00adhaps the prin\u00adci\u00adpal archi\u00adtect of the Holo\u00adcaust. This fas\u00adci\u00adnated me. I not only made a study of the Wansee Con\u00adfer\u00adence, where Hey\u00addrich con\u00adsol\u00adi\u00addated his plans, but a friend showed me the exact spot in the Prague sub\u00adurb of Kobylisy where he was shot by Czech par\u00adti\u00adsans.&nbsp;I will rec\u00adom\u00admend this nov\u00adel, espe\u00adcially to any\u00adone who has already read <em>Faces of Mist and Flame<\/em>, with the caveat that its nar\u00adra\u00adtive com\u00adplex\u00adity requires more atten\u00adtive reading.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is Jon George\u2019s sec\u00adond nov\u00adel, which I read eager\u00adly after being very pleased by Faces of Mist and Flame.
