{"id":4876,"date":"2013-01-26T16:33:26","date_gmt":"2013-01-26T21:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.philpaine.com\/?p=4876"},"modified":"2018-08-03T16:50:12","modified_gmt":"2018-08-03T20:50:12","slug":"basar-dikici-kopru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.philpaine.com\/?p=4876","title":{"rendered":"Ba\u015far Dikici\u2019 \u201cK\u00f6pr\u00fc\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There were lots of per\u00adfor\u00admances by Ba\u015far Diki\u00adci on YouTube, but I couldn\u2019t find any bio\u00adgraph\u00adi\u00adcal infor\u00adma\u00adtion about him, oth\u00ader than that he was born in Adana.&nbsp;He looks fair\u00adly young.&nbsp;Dikici\u2019s instru\u00adment is the Ney, a very sim\u00adple end-blown flute that has been in con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00adous use for four or five thou\u00adsand years.&nbsp;A skilled play\u00ader can cov\u00ader three octaves with it.&nbsp;Sim\u00adi\u00adlar instru\u00adments abound through\u00adout Asia, but the Ney is par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly asso\u00adci\u00adat\u00aded with Turk\u00adish clas\u00adsi\u00adcal music.&nbsp;But it\u2019s at home in the many vari\u00adeties of Turk\u00adish pop music, as&nbsp;well.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This album, whose title trans\u00adlates as \u201cbridge\u201d, cov\u00aders both, with very nice sup\u00adport\u00ading bass gui\u00adtar by Nurhat Sens\u00ades\u00adli.&nbsp;Dikici\u2019s own com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adtions struck me as more inter\u00adest\u00ading than the cov\u00aders of stan\u00addard tunes. \u201c<em>Gecenin Sesi<\/em> (Night and the City)\u201d gave me the most pleasure.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Turkey has a very com\u00adplex musi\u00adcal scene, with every\u00adthing from death met\u00adal to Sufi con\u00adtem\u00adpla\u00adtive hymns prof\u00adit\u00ading from cur\u00adrents mov\u00ading east\u00adward and west\u00adward.&nbsp;Turk\u00adish immi\u00adgrants have made it famil\u00adiar to most Euro\u00adpeans, but North Amer\u00adi\u00adcans have not been much exposed to it.
