It\u2019s true that it has a sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcantly dif\u00adfer\u00adent \u201cfeel\u201d from the first two, and shifts focus to oth\u00ader mat\u00adters. Peake was near death, and quite ill, when he wrote it, so it con\u00adtains some laps\u00ades in style and inter\u00adnal incon\u00adsis\u00adten\u00adcies. But it does not mer\u00adit the scorn it faced on pub\u00adli\u00adca\u00adtion, or the dis\u00admissal it gets from fans of <em>Gor\u00admeng\u00adhast<\/em>. Titus, who is more or less a place-mark\u00ader in the imag\u00adis\u00adtic maze of the first vol\u00adumes, acquires much more of an inter\u00adnal voice <em>Titus Alone<\/em>.
