In fact, the main action takes place pre\u00adcisely in the place I was explor\u00ading on foot with my friend Isaac White \u2015 the moun\u00adtains of Hune\u00addoara. Here he places a mys\u00adte\u00adri\u00adous cas\u00adtle, and a mad sci\u00aden\u00adtist who has invent\u00aded tele\u00advi\u00adsion. The book was writ\u00adten in 1893, and counts as one of the first fic\u00adtional spec\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtions on this idea that did not involve the super\u00adnat\u00adural.
