It cer\u00adtain\u00adly pro\u00advid\u00aded the for\u00admu\u00adla that Hitch\u00adcock repeat\u00aded in many of his films: an inno\u00adcent man, ordi\u00adnary enough, but cheer\u00adful, resource\u00adful, and mod\u00adest\u00adly brave, acci\u00adden\u00adtal\u00adly gets entan\u00adgled in a com\u00adpli\u00adcat\u00aded espi\u00adonage scheme, gets framed for mur\u00adder, goes on the run, and has to foil the spies to clear his name. The chase takes him across coun\u00adtry, a pil\u00adgrim\u2019s progress through a sequence of encoun\u00adters with com\u00adi\u00adcal and sin\u00adis\u00adter char\u00adac\u00adters, and finds love along the way. Hitch\u00adcock made exact\u00adly the film again in <em>Sabo\u00adteur<\/em> and <em>North By North\u00adwest<\/em>.&nbsp;Robert Donat played this kind of hero to per\u00adfec\u00adtion, so charm\u00ading\u00adly that you for\u00adget the famil\u00adiar\u00adi\u00adty of the plot.
