I have the Cana\u00addian release on cas\u00adsette tape, which has an addi\u00adtional song, \u201cNev\u00ader Lose That Feeling\/Never Learn\u201d, not avail\u00adable on the U.K. orig\u00adi\u00adnal. Swervedriv\u00ader was an excel\u00adlent band, absorb\u00ading influ\u00adences at first from raw bands like Iggy and the Stooges, and slow\u00adly acquir\u00ading a denser \u201calter\u00adna\u00adtive\u201d tex\u00adture with\u00adout los\u00ading any aggres\u00adsive\u00adness. Unlike Dinosaur Jr., Son\u00adic Youth, My Bloody Valen\u00adtine, and oth\u00ader bands of that gen\u00aderal <em>zeit\u00adgeist<\/em>, Swervedriv\u00ader nev\u00ader found a sat\u00adis\u00adfac\u00adtory rela\u00adtion\u00adship with a record com\u00adpany, or a broad audi\u00adence. But <em>Mez\u00adcal Head <\/em>stands up very well after twen\u00adty years. \u201cDuel\u201d, the only song to get a video and sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant air\u00adplay, is by no means the only good track on the album. I pre\u00adfer \u201cLast Train To Satans\u00adville\u201d and the jazz-like \u201cNev\u00ader Learn\u201d.
