The town of Boucherville, facing Montreal from across the St. Lawrence. In the distance can be seen Mont Saint-Hilaire, an extinct volcano with a crater lake on its summit. To the left of this, and just at the horizon, is the tiny village of Sainte-Madeleine, where my mother was born. Beyond the horizon are the Mégantic Mountains, an extension of the Green Mountains of Vermont.
