Monday, May 2, 2011— Folly Reigns in Canada

The results of the Canadian federal election are so depressing that I can’t bring myself to comment at length. Canadians have rewarded one of their worst and most morally offensive governments with a parliamentary majority. We have already, thanks to Stephen Harper’s Conservative administration, plunged from financial solvency to crippling debt. Harper has shown his contempt for Canadian tradition and democracy a hundred times over, and committed genuine acts of treason. We will now live in the thrall of doctrinaire Conservative filth and corruption, ruled (rather than served) by one of the slimiest bastards in the country’s history.

As the aging Boomer generation sinks into senility, this sort of disaster was bound to happen, I suppose.

After many years of studying history and society, I have pretty much zero tolerance for Marxists, Conservatives, pseudo-Muslim and pseudo-Christian “fundamentalists”, and the promoters of Global Corporatism — all these clowns are pretty much the same sort of con-artists, peddling the same sort of garbage. They are interchangeable. Now a gang of them has triumphed in the country that I love.

My country has sunk into a dark age. I’ll try to hold on to the candle.
