In my country, Canada, democracy is not an “aspiration” and it is not an “experiment. ” It is a reality. I have worked at polling stations in two Canadian elections, and I know it first-hand. I also know exactly what would happen if a gang of treasonous armed terrorists forced their way into Canada’s Parliament in an attempt to overthrow that democracy. They would either surrender instantly and be carted off to jail, or THEY WOULD QUICKLY BECOME DEAD. That is precisely what happened to a lone terrorist who attempted that crime in 2014. Canada’s Parliament has a force of regular security guards, but the RCMP are always ready to hand. RCMP officers are not just police —– they are trained to the standards of any military strike force. They would not let any gang of terrorists desecrate the seat of government for more than a few seconds, and they would not stand around taking selfies with terrorists.

A message to my American friends: I realize that the majority of Americans are decent human beings, and patriots. The recent election has demonstrated that. But no supporter of Donald Trump is either a decent human being or a patriot. Every single one of them has betrayed their country and declared themselves an enemy of America. They should be treated as such by all true Americans. Trumpism is an un-American, treasonous ideology incorporating every evil of Fascism, Communism, Nazism and Theocratic Statism. I have said this unflinchingly and consistently since before Donald Trump was installed in office against the will of the American people by the primitive and archaic electoral college. A lifetime of studying the history of dictatorships and obscenely evil ideological systems left me in no doubt of this at any time. It must be remembered that EVERY supporter of Donald Trump is a complicit cheerleader for the heinous crime of kidnapping and torturing small children, as well as for the treasonous acts of Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party.

But, as a Canadian, I will speak directly to any Trump Supporter: Traitor to your own country, you are not welcome in mine. Canada has always been America’s friend and ally. As a supporter of Donald Trump, who is a working agent for the enemies of both the United States and Canada (and of every civilized nation), you are a menace to my country as well. You are, in fact, an enemy of humanity, an enemy of democracy, an enemy of all that is good and right. You have no more right to set foot in my country and pollute it’s soil than any invader from a foreign dictatorship. You are also my personal enemy. I will fight against your perfidious evil until my last dying breath.

Phil Paine, Toronto, Canada.

Image of the Month — Mt. Logan

Canada’s highest mountain [5,959 m / 19,551 ft], rarely seen, even by air. It is almost always obscured by clouds or storms, and is surrounded by 75,000 square kilometres [30,000 square miles] of glaciers and rugged peaks. On the 5,000-metre-high [16,000 ft] plateau, air temperature hovers around −45 °C /−49 °F in winter. It was first summited in 1925 by a team of Canadian, American and British climbers, the task taking 65 days. The first solo assent was made in 2018 by Monique Richard. I was thrilled enough to fly over the outer portion of the plateau and spot it in the far distance, in 1995.
